Villagers of Avadan report detentions
According to local residents, during a counterterrorist operation (CTO) conducted in the village of Avadan in Southern Dagestan, an assumed militant and members of some "religious family" were detained. During the operation, gunfire was heard.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the CTO regime was announced within the borders of the Derbent District of Dagestan. According to the republic's operative headquarters, power agents were looking for members of the armed underground. This is the third CTO in Southern Dagestan since the start of the year.
The today's CTO in Avadan, Dokuzparin District, located 15 km off the city of Derbent, was reported in social networks. According to local residents, armed power agents had blocked the village.
The CTO began in the morning, one of the locals told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on condition of anonymity. The village is completely surrounded; the entry and exit are allowed by power agents strictly according to villagers' passports; and those, who are not registered in the village, are not let in.
Villagers say that they saw power agents detaining locals, said the source.
"There are reports that power agents detained a member of an illegal armed formation (IAF); villagers also say that a religious family, too, was taken away by law enforcers," said a resident of Avadan.
