FSIN treats complaints about non-admission to Mukhammad Magomedov as unfounded

During a visit to the SIZO (pre-trial prison) of members of the Dagestani Public Oversight Commission (POC), activist Mukhammad Magomedov was at the investigator's office for interrogation. This was reported by Amirkhan Gasanov, the chief of the press service of the Department for Dagestan of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN). According to Amirkhan Gasanov, members of the POC could wait until the completion of the interrogation, but they chose to send a complaint to the Prosecutor's Office.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 27, the POC members filed a complaint to the Prosecutor's Office about the fact that they were twice not allowed to visit at the SIZO Mukhammad Magomedov, an activist of the NGO "League of the Just". The POC members have expressed their concern that "Mukhammad may be subjected to illegal forms of interrogation, including torture".

Today, Amirkhan Gasanov, the chief of the press service of the Dagestani FSIN Department, has reported that the SIZO administration "did not create any obstacles for a visit of the Dagestani POC members to Mukhammad Magomedov."

"The visit was not prohibited. When they arrived, they were allowed to enter the SIZO. The POC members visited the cells where suspects are kept. However, Magomedov, to whom they came, was at the investigator's office at the time of their visit," Amirkhan Gasanov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"They could meet him after the interrogation. However, the POC members refused to wait and left the SIZO. And then it turned out that the Prosecutor's Office received a complaint about the fact of non-admission of members of the POC to Magomedov," said the official of the Dagestani FSIN Department.
