Putin appoints Bitarov acting head of North Ossetia
According to the Kremlin press service, Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed the chairman of the government of North Ossetia Vyacheslav Bitarov to the post of acting head of the republic. Today, Russian President had a meting with Vyacheslav Bitarov.
During the meeting Bitarov said that he would focus on solving economic problems of North Ossetia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in early February, the head of North Ossetia Tamerlan Aguzarov was hospitalized. On February 19, it became known that he died in a Moscow clinic. The official cause of his death was announced as pneumonia.
According to the spokesman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of North Ossetia, the acting head of the republic will lead it until September 18, when on the Russia's single voting day, the republic's parliament will hold early election of the republic's supreme official. The political analysts, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot", have named Bitarov the main contender for the post of the head of North Ossetia.
