Volgograd: over 40 persons come out to commemorate Boris Nemtsov

43 persons – members of the "RPR-PARNAS" and "Yabloko" Parties, and civil activists – have gathered today in Lenin Square in Volgograd to hold a picket "Year after murder of Boris Nemtsov". They demanded a fair inquiry into his assassination.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the city of Volzhsky, neighbouring to Volgograd, the action in memory of Nemtsov brought together seven persons. Similar actions took place in other southern cities – Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar and Astrakhan. The most populous action was in Moscow – 7500 people, according to official data. In Saint Petersburg, a similar action gathered 3000 people.

According to Anatoly Eldyrkin, the organizer of the picket in Volgograd, since February 15, he thrice submitted his applications to the Mayoralty for holding a 50-strong picket. Twice he was denied under the motive that other actions had been planned in the applied places.

"Our demand is to hold an honest inquiry into Boris' murder and a fair trial to justly punish the perpetrators and customers," Eldyrkin said.

Boris Nemtsov was "a truly remarkable man, a talented and fearless politician," said Vyacheslav Melchenko, a reserve officer, a member of the "Yabloko" Party and one of the picketers.

However, many of Volgograd townspeople, who passed by the picket, especially young one, said that they did not know who Nemtsov; some had not even heard about his murder.
