Nine residents of Dagestan suspected of terrorism
The investigating bodies have started an inquiry into the case of nine residents of Dagestan, suspected of illegal involvement in warfare in Syria. One of them was detained.
According to investigators, in the period from March to October 2015 the suspects crossed the Turkish-Syrian border and joined an illegal armed formation (IAF).
Investigators assert that the suspects had undergone, as IAF members, training in terrorist activities and participated, together with other IAF members, in the armed conflict against the Syrian government troops.
In January 2016, one of the suspects returned to Russia and was arrested.
The inquiry into the case opened under the articles of "inducing or recruiting a person to commit terrorist-related crimes", "training in order to carry out terrorist activities", "participation in a terrorist organization" and "participation in an illegal armed formation" continues, said the website of the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the ICRF.
