Court rejects claim of Karaulova's advocates against SIZO

The Lefortovo District Court of Moscow has found legitimate the actions of the administration of SIZO (pre-trial prison) No. 2, who banned access to the arrested student of the Moscow State University (MSU) Varvara Karaulova (Alexandra Ivanova).

On June 4, 2015, Varvara Karaulova and resident of Chechnya Muslim Akhmaev were detained at the Turkish-Syrian border in a group of 14 Russian citizens who, according to investigators, had intended to join the terrorist organization "Islamic State", banned in Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 28, 2015, a court in Moscow arrested Karaulova. On November 10, 2015, she pleaded guilty. Now, the term of her detention is extended until March 27, 2016. On November 24, 2015, the advocate Sergey Badamshin said that advocates and relatives cannot visit Karaulova at the SIZO.
