Eyewitnesses report on attempt to close mosque in Khasavyurt

In the city of Khasavyurt, a lot of law enforcers gathered near the Salafi mosque. This was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by eyewitnesses of the situation.

At 6:36 p.m. Moscow time, the SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot" got a message describing the situation near the mosque in Khasavyurt and the attempts to close it. "In Khasavyurt, many people who care about the position of the mosque gather together," wrote the author of the message.

The policemen who arrived to the place reported that they were instructed to close the mosque, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by one of the mosque-goers who preferred to remain anonymous.

He has also reported that on December 26, the imam of the mosque was detained, and, according to the mosque-goer, a grenade launcher was planted to the imam. "While the imam is under investigation, the new imam was elected. And today, I was phoned and told that the policemen came to close the mosque," said the source.

The information about the closure of the mosque has been confirmed by Tagir Kabaev, another mosque-goer, who place the information on his Facebook page. "...Now, the police came there and decided to close the entrance to the mosque," writes the blogger.
