In Dagestan, Imam of village mosque sentenced to four years in prison
Adam Abduraev, a resident of the village of Kharachi of the Untsukul District of Dagestan, who held the post of the Imam of the village mosque, sentenced for justification of terrorism and calls for it. According to the Dagestani Prosecutor's Office, he was sentenced to four years of imprisonment in a common-security penal colony.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 8, 2015, the Dagestani Prosecutor's Office announced the transfer of the case against Adam Abduraev to the North-Caucasian District Military Court; however, soon after that the case was returned to the Prosecutor's Office. In December 2015, the case was repeatedly sent to the court.
The man was found guilty of committing crimes under Part 1 of Article 205.2 (public calls for terrorist activity or public justification of terrorism) and Part 1 of Article 280 (public calls for extremist activity) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
According to investigators, in May 2012, at the funeral of a local resident, Adam Abduraev delivered a public speech, which contained calls for extremist activity.
Let us remind you that in March 2014, Adam Abduraev together with his three fellow villagers was sentenced to six months of imprisonment in a penal colony on the charge of the use of violence against law enforcers in November 2013.
