Ukrainian soldier detained in Rostov Region

In the Rostov Region, border guards have detained a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the Border Guard Service of the Russian FSB Department for the Rostov Region. The headquarters for the special operation of Ukrainian power agents in Donbas has reported on the launch of an internal investigation in connection with the detention of the Ukrainian contractor soldier by Russian border guards.

According to the Border Guard Service of the Russian FSB Department, in the evening of January 12, the soldier was detained in the village of Chertkovo after he had crossed the Russian-Ukrainian border outside a checkpoint. He had no any IDs.

Administrative proceedings were instituted against the soldier. The issue of opening a criminal case under the article on illegal border crossing, which stipulates punishment of up to two years of imprisonment, is under consideration, the "Interfax" reports with reference to the press service of the Border Guard Service of the Russian FSB Department for the Rostov Region.

"We confirm that on January 12, Maxim Shlyakhovoi, a contract soldier, was detained by a patrol of the Border Guard Service of the Russian Federation," reports Alexei Mazepa, the chief of the press centre of the headquarters for the special operation of the Ukrainian power agents in Donbas as quoted by the RIA "Novosti-Ukraine".
