Case of shelling in Derbent can be reclassified as terror act, advocates assert
In the case of reclassification of the case of shelling of people in Derbent, victims can receive financial assistance from the state. This was noted by advocate Zaurbek Sadakhanov. According to Ruslan Magomedov, the militants' claim on responsibility for the shelling speaks in favour of the demand voiced by the victims. Elena Denisenko has pointed to the uncertainty of a purpose of the shelling.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the victims and their relatives demand to reclassify the case of the shelling to a terror act.
The armed attack in the area of Naryn-Kala Fortress took place at night of December 30. As a result of the attack, 12 persons with injuries came to the hospital to get medical treatment, and one of them died.
The appeal with a request for reclassification of the case was sent to the investigating authorities on January 12, one of the victims reports.
According Zaurbek Sadakhanov, a member of the "Inter-territorial" Moscow Advocates' Chamber, there is every reason for the reclassification of the criminal case from the article on a murder to the article on a terror act. Zaurbek Sadakhanov states that he needs to see the materials of the criminal case to make more accurate assessment of such a possibility of reclassification.
Advocate Ruslan Magomedov, a member of the Dagestani Advocates' Chamber, believes that the criminals' aim was to intimidate the local population.
Ruslan Magomedov has noted that on October 25, 2013, the Russian State Duma adopted the law, according to which victims of terror acts can obtain compensation for moral damages at the expense of terrorists, as well as at the expense of their family members, provided that their money and valuables had been received as a result of terrorist activities.
