Victims of shelling in Derbent accuse law enforcers of inaction

Persons wounded in the shelling of Derbent are in need of financial assistance. This was claimed by victims and their relatives. According to them, during the first hours after the shelling, law enforcers did not dare to go up to the observation deck, and at the hospital, relatives of victims had to buy the necessary medicines.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the victims and their relatives demand to reclassify the case to the terror act. They have decided to send the appeal with a request to reclassify the case to the government of Dagestan, the investigating authorities and the Presidential Envoy for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD).

Today, the victims of the shelling and their relatives have gathered the press centre of the Dagestani weekly newspaper "Novoye Delo" in Makhachkala.

"The shelling at the observation deck of Naryn-Kala Fortress has started unexpectedly," said Islam Magomedvaliev, who was wounded to his leg.

Another victim has added that companies of vacationers were at the observation deck, and young people danced lezginka. According to him, shortly before the shelling, a firecracker exploded not far from the vacationers.

During the meeting, an official of the Dagestani Ministry of Health has noted that the victims "will be provided with everything necessary for medical treatment."
