Organization "Mercy to Those Facing Trial" meets detainees in Sochi IVS

During the Christmas holidays, activists of the NGO "Mercy to Those Facing Trial" held meetings with detainees in two temporary detention facilities (known as IVS) in Sochi. Activists congratulated the detainees and presented gifts to them.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that members of the Sochi NGO "Mercy to Those Facing Trial" hold the annual charity event "Christmas in Detention" and visit detainees at IVS.

On January 7, the action was held at the IVS of the neighbourhood "Matsesta", and on January 8 – at the IVS of the Lazarevskoe District of Sochi, said Natalia Obukhova, Chair of the "Mercy to Those Facing Trial".

"The aim of the action is to help people who have stumbled in life and occurred in difficult situation," she said, adding that they have been holding actions at Sochi IVS since 2003.

She explained that detainees receive Christmas cards, pens and notebooks as gifts, so that they could write down their thoughts, keep diaries or write letters to relatives.
