Tenants of blasted Volgograd house seek to meet Governor
In the course of the meeting with the head of the administration of the Dzerzhinsky District of Volgograd, tenants of the blasted residential building asked a number of questions, which "should have already been answered," Vitaly Melnikov, one of the tenants, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The victims believe that their problems are only partially addressed by city authorities. Tenants demand a meeting with the regional governor and expect their problems will be solved at the regional level.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 20, an explosion occurred in No. 47 in Cosmonauts Street in Volgograd. As a result, a block of the building has collapsed. The bodies of five persons were found. Experts have recognized the residential building as dilapidated and subjected to demolition.
Residents of the destroyed house have listed a number of questions, to which they want to get answers. For example, many elderly people "were hospitalized not after the accident, but later," said Melnikov. "But will they be reimbursed the cost of drugs? Will any rehabilitation be organized for them?"
According to his story, there is also a problem with the amount of compensation for the lost property, as the bureaucrats want to issue housing certificates to the victims at the rate of 35,000 roubles per square meter.
The compensation at the rate of 35 roubles per square meter is low, Andrei Kondrashov, another tenant, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"We'll have to add money to buy an apartment in a more or less normal state," said Andrei Kondrashov.
