Activist Gevorg Safaryan stops hunger strike
Gevorg Safaryan, a member of the movement "Constituent Parliament" of Armenia, accused of using violence against a power official, has stopped his hunger strike after he was transferred to a solitary cell.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Gevorg Safaryan was detained on the New Year night after a conflict with the police in Freedom Square in Yerevan. On January 3, the court ruled to arrest the activist for two months. In the courtroom, Safaryan announced a hunger strike demanding to place him into a solitary cell.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told that Safaryan had stopped his hunger strike by his advocate Tigran Airapetyan.
According to his story, the demand of his client was satisfied: Safaryan was placed into a solitary cell, so he stopped his protest.
