Resident of Chechnya accused of helping militant

A criminal case against a local resident Magomed Makaev has been sent to the Urus-Martan District Court. According to investigators, he had supplied foodstuffs and clothes to a member of an illegal armed formation (IAF).

A local law enforcement source told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the 24-year-old Makaev and four other alleged helpers to IAF members were detained in Chechnya on June 30.

According to the source, in December 2014 Makaev was helping an active member of the armed underground, who was on the federal wanted list.

"He has fully admitted the incriminated guilt; and now the court will appoint a punishment. He also concluded a pre-trial agreement with investigators and helped to expose several other militants' helpers. Therefore, the case will be considered under a special procedure," said the source.
