Pentagon spokesman refutes capture of al-Shishani

One of the leaders of the "Islamic State" (IS), a native of Georgia, Abu Omar al-Shishani (Tarkhan Batirashvili) was not detained in the course of the operation conducted by the US Special Forces, said the spokesman for the Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Department of Defence (DoD). The capture of al-Shishani was also not confirmed by residents of the Pankisi Gorge.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the news that al-Shishani (in the Arabic language "Shishani" means "a Chechen", – note of the "Caucasian Knot") was captured by US Special Forces in Iraq on December 25 was released on December 27. Before this message, the IS commander (IS has been recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia and some other countries of the world, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") was at least seven times declared killed by media, but each time the fact was refuted afterwards.

Today, the Pentagon spokesman has refuted the detention of Batirashvili. His relatives living in the Pankisi Gorge in Georgia also deny the detention of Abu Omar al-Shishani, the "Georgia-Online" writes with reference to the locals.

The information about the capture of al-Shishani was spread by the TASS with reference to the little-known agency EIN; and this may indicate that the initial origin of this news was the Russian party, asserts one of the websites that supports militants.
