Russian MfE denies information about two victims of explosion in Volgograd
The Chief Department for the Volgograd Region of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) has denied the information on the discovery of a woman's body under a multi-storey building partly collapsed as a result of the explosion in Volgograd.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 20, an explosion occurred in a residential building in Volgograd. As a result of the explosion, a block of the building from the second up to the ninth floors has collapsed. Twelve injured and five killed persons were reported. However, this morning, a body of a deceased man was found. According to law enforcers, the victim of the explosion was a man born in 1939. According to the preliminary information, the explosion occurred at the victim's apartment on the seventh floor. Later, it was reported on the discovery of a woman's body under the collapsed block of the building.
"At present, only one deceased man has been found at the place of the explosion. The information about the discovery of the second deceased person has not been confirmed," the "Interfax" quoted at 12:21 a.m. Moscow time Dmitry Ulanov, Press Secretary of the MfE's Department for the Volgograd Region, as stating.
Let us remind you that all residents of the multi-storey building were evacuated. The head of the Dzerzhinsky District of Volgograd has reported that the explosion destroyed 36 apartments. According to the official, about 100 people were deprived of housing. Investigators consider a household gas explosion as the basic version of the incident.
