ICRF states that Nalchik detainee was not involved in shootout

In the shootout with power agents in Nalchik only a resident of Baksan was killed by return fire. The other man – the detained resident of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) – was not shooting at law enforcers, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on December 14, in Nalchik, two residents of Baksan were stopped for inspection, but opened fire on power agents. One of them, which, presumably, was a financier of the armed underground and was wanted for extortion, was killed in the shootout, the other one was detained.

According to investigators, when law enforcers tried to check their documents, of one of them made many shots from a 9-mm calibre pistol, and then was shot dead by return fire, says the press service of the Chief Department for the KBR of the ICRF.

During the shootout, none of civilians and law enforcers was injured, says the website of the ICRF.

The ICRF has opened a criminal case under the article of "illegal acquisition, possession and carrying of weapons" and "attempt on the life of law enforcers."
