Russian SC starts studying appeals in the case of attack on Nalchik

The Russian Supreme Court (SC) is to consider the appeal complaints lodged by 48 out of 52 convicts in the case of the attack on Nalchik in 2005.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the study by the SC of the above appeals has been scheduled for December 15.

On October 13, 2005, during the attack on Nalchik, in total 35 law enforcers and servicemen, 14 civilians and 92 attackers were killed. The trial was running since 2008.

According to the press service of the republic’s department of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (known as UFSIN), out of 52 convicts kept in the SIZO (pre-trial prison) 51 went to the hearing.

Three of the convicts – Arsen Boziev, Azamat Kanchukoev and Rasul Nerov – whose sentences expire in 2016-2018, did not lodge appeals and have the right to petition about further consideration of the case without their participation, the "Interfax-Yug" reports.
