On December 7-13, one person was lost in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week from December 7 to December 13, 2015, one person perished in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot", based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
The casualty is an alleged member of the armed underground in Dagestan.
Attacks on power agents
On December 11, in the Dagestani city Izberbash, operative agents of the Chief Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) of the Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the Dagestani MIA tried to stop a Volga GAZ-3102 car to check driver's documents; since the latter was suspected of having links with illegal armed formations (IAFs). However, the driver opened pistol fire and was shot dead in the shootout that followed. The power agents did not suffer. The attacker was identified as Mukhtar Ismiev, a 49-year-old resident of Izberbash. He had been suspected of recruiting local people to the ranks of IAFs.
Special and counterterrorist operations
On December 11, at 5:30 a.m. Moscow time, the dwelling settlements of Gimerso, Gigatli and Khushtada, and the territory in the vicinity of Mount Alak in the Tsumadin District of Dagestan, were put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime. Power agents were searching for IAF members.
Detentions
On December 11, after the Friday namaz (prayer), OMON (riot police) agents in masks detained from 80 to 100 parishioners of the mosque, located in the Makhachkala neighbourhood named Shamkhal. At the police station, MIA employees inspected the detainees, registered and fingerprinted them. By the evening all the mosque-goers were released.
