Main objective of Volgograd truckers' Union is to abolish "Platon"

Volgograd truck drivers, who are on strike in the Moscow Region, have created the Regional Union of Entrepreneurs and Carriers. According to activist Alexei Ulyanov, such associations are also created in other regions to join forces against the system "Platon".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 6, Volgograd protestors, who reached the Moscow Region, took part in the meeting, at which they voiced an idea to establish a trade union of truck drivers. On December 9, the truck drivers made a decision to establish All-Russian association of truck drivers to protect their rights.

Alexei Ulyanov, the coordinator of the protest camp in the 92nd kilometer of the Kashira Highway, has noted that "the Volgograd truck drivers have for the first time created such an association."

According to the charter of the Union of Entrepreneurs and Carriers of the Volgograd Region, its objectives are to "take part in the development of programmes of state support and protection of participants of transportation services market, contribute to improvement of traffic situation in the region, and raise the professional level of people employed in the field of transportation services."

Besides, the Union's tasks also include participation in the development of professional ethic rules, solution of problems related to violations of the above rules, and participation in the development of the quality standards for transportation services.

Let us remind you that the Russian Presidential Council for Development of Civil Society and Human Rights Council (HRC) has proposed to abolish the system "Platon".
