Zubair Mustafaev found guilty of abuse of power as Mayor of Izberbash
In Dagestan, the court has pronounced the verdict against Zubair Mustafaev, the former head of the town of Izberbash. He was found guilty of abuse of power in connection with the allocation of land plots in the recreational area of the Caspian Sea. Zubair Mustafaev was sentenced to four years of imprisonment and a fine in the amount of 14 million roubles.
According to investigators, Zubair Mustafaev allocated for free to his friends 34 land plots in the recreational area of the Caspian Sea. According to the indictment, as a result of abuse of power, the Mayor inflicted to the budget the damage in the amount of 34.3 million roubles. Zubair Mustafaev pleads not guilty. The trial was started on August 27, 2013.
The court has found Zubair Mustafaev guilty under Paragraph "C" of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of power with serious consequences). The maximum penalty stipulated under the Article is 10 years of imprisonment.
