In Nardaran, law enforcers disrupt local religious event
In the village of Nardaran, law enforcers have blocked the roads to the sanctuary "Nardaran Feast" and thus prevented the holding of the memorial ceremony on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Imam Rzy revered by Shiites. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports on the seizure of weapons in the village.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 26, during the special operation in Nardaran, law enforcers detained 14 people, including theologian Talekh Bagirzade, the leader of the movement "Muslim Unity". Since that time, activists of the movement are being massively detained in Azerbaijan. The special operation has provoked the unrest, which killed seven persons.
This morning, in Nardaran, the law enforcers have blocked the roads leading to the sanctuary "Nardaran Feast". This was reported by Natiq Kerimov, one of the local elders.
"On December 11-12, people mark the anniversary of the day of the death of Imam Rzy. However, the law enforcers do not let the people to gather for the memorial event," Natiq Kerimov said in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to Natiq Kerimov, the police forces do not allow local residents to gather in groups and in the squares of the village of Nardaran. Besides, according to Natiq Karimov, the entrances to Nardaran are strictly controlled by the police, and only local residents are allowed to enter the village.
