Resident of Makhachkala reports on detentions of mosque-goers in Shamkhal
In the Makhachkala village of Shamkhal, 80-100 mosque-goers were detained after the Friday prayer. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by one of the eyewitnesses.
According to him, the information about possible detentions has been known since the very morning.
"There have been rumours that a number of people will be detained. So, a lot of believers have decided not to visit the mosque for a prayer today. Finally, the rumours have been confirmed. Two buses full of people left the place. I believe that 80-100 men were brought to the rural police station," a local resident reported.
According to him, the detentions involved OMON (riot police) fighters in masks.
At present, no comments from the law enforcement bodies concerning those claims are available to the "Caucasian Knot".
