One of Nardaran elders detained in Azerbaijan

This morning, in Azerbaijan, Natiq Kerimov, one of the elders of Nardaran, has been arrested. None of human rights defenders have talked to Natiq Kerimov yet. According to the Prosecutor's Office, he is being kept at the Investigating Department.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a son of Natiq Kerimov that his father was detained at a police checkpoint on the outskirts of Nardaran, when he went to undergo a medical examination.

Natiq Kerimov cannot be reached via mobile phone. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learned from the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office that Natiq Kerimov is being kept at the Investigating Department on Grave Crimes of the General Prosecutor's Office, where he is being questioned as a witness in the case of the events in Nardaran.

Natiq Kerimov is a disabled person, and he practically cannot walk because of feet illness.

The "Caucasian Knot" has been reported by a resident of Nardaran that the police still take control over the entrances to the village. Patrols of law enforcers are on duty in the village streets.

Meanwhile, from the evening of December 8, electricity supply to Nardaran is partially resumed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 26, in Nardaran, clashes broke out of believers with policemen. They were provoked by the special operation, during which activists of the "Muslim Unity" were detained. During the clashes seven people were killed.
