Armenian CEC: 63.35% of voters support constitutional reforms

The Armenian Central Election Commission (CEC) has completed the processing of ballots from all the polling stations of the country. According to the preliminary information, 825,622 voters, or 63.35%, gave their voices in favour of the constitutional reform. This was reported by Tigran Mukuchyan, Chairman of the Armenian CEC.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 6, Armenia held voting at the referendum on the constitutional reform project. During the day, observers noted a low turnout, as well as violations committed at precincts. As at the time of the closure of the precincts, the voter turnout reached 50.51%.

The preliminary results of the referendum show that the amendments to the Armenian Constitution have been adopted. This was announced by Tigran Mukuchyan, Chairman of the Armenian CEC.

"According to the summarized preliminary results, 825,622 people, or 63.35% voters and 32.17% of the citizens included in the lists of voters, gave their voices in favour of the constitutional reform project. 421,593 people, or 32.35% of voters who took part in voting and 16.42% of the citizens on the voters' lists, voted against," the "TASS" quotes Tigran Mukuchyan as reporting.

In total, according to Tigran Mukuchyan, 50.51% of the citizens included in the voters' lists took part in the voting.

The Chairman of the Armenian CEC has reminded that the project is recognized as adopted if more than half of the voters who took part in the referendum, but not less than one quarter of the citizens included in the voters' lists gave their votes in favour of the project.
