In Yerevan, about 20 marchers detained

The police have detained about 20 people at Republic Square, which hosted the march of supporters of the "New Armenia", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

In the centre of Yerevan, the opposition united front "No!" has held a protest rally with the demand to recognize as null and void the results of the today's Armenian referendum on constitutional reforms. By the beginning of the rally, according to the organizers, about 700 people gathered at Freedom Square, and soon, the protesters began a march to the building of the Central Election Commission (CEC). However, the Yerevan police blocked the road in front of the protesters. The Deputy Chief of the Yerevan Police has promised the protesters that after the counting of votes, they will be able to meet a CEC official.

Supporters of the "New Armenia" did not wait for the completion of the vote counting to meet a CEC official and continued their march to Republic Square.

The activists broke through the police cordon and ran to a mosaic carpet in the centre of Republic Square. As a result, about 20 people were detained, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
