Policemen clash with oppositionists in Yerevan
An attempt of supporters of the "New Armenia" to set up a tent in Freedom Square in Yerevan turned into clashes with policemen.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, today activists tried to set up a tent in the place of their sit-in picket. The activists of "New Armenia" stated that "according to the law they have the right to set up a tent in the place of a picket."
The oppositionists claimed that "keeping people in the open air in winter is inhuman." However, policemen did not allow setting up a tent; and it provoked clashes. Policemen confiscated the tent; but, according to preliminary data, nobody was detained.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 6 Armenia would vote at the referendum on the draft of constitutional reforms. Preparations for the referendum are accompanied by protests staged by the opposition.
