Nardaran residents report detention of 19 people
In Azerbaijan, in the village of Nardaran, 19 local residents were detained in the course of the special operation, their villagers report. An access control regime has been introduced in the village for the period of the special operation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 1, armed law enforcers cordoned off the village of Nardaran and brought armoured vehicles. According to witnesses, local residents were taken away to some unknown destination. The law enforcers forced journalists to leave Nardaran.
On November 26, clashed between believers and the police occurred in Nardaran. As a result, three local residents, one resident of Ganja, on resident of Masally, and two policemen were killed.
Natiq Kerimov, one of the elders of the village of Nardaran, has expressed his hope that the detainees will be released after all the circumstances are clarified.
Natiq Kerimov has noted that Vilayat Eivazov, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, has reported that "according to the law enforcement bodies, some villagers have weapons" and urged them to surrender their weapons voluntarily."
In his turn, Shakhin Mamedov, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, Commander of the Interior Troops, has announced that the special operation will continue until the full implementation of measures to ensure public safety in the village of Nardaran.
Meanwhile, Nardaran is still deprived of electricity supply, and law enforcers stay in the streets of the village, a local resident reports.
