Two Krasnodar residents detained on suspicion of trying to join militants in Syria
Investigators have opened a criminal case against two residents of the Krasnodar Territory. According to law enforcers, the suspects had an intention to join illegal armed formations (IAFs) operating in the territory of Syria.
"In November 2015, young people were detained at the airport of Krasnodar at the border control. They intended to fly to Istanbul to go to Syria and join the terrorist organization 'Dzhebhat al-Nusra' banned in Russia," reports an officer of the Public Relations Office of the FSB Department for the Krasnodar Territory as quoted by the "Interfax-South".
According to the investigators, during several months, two detainees had been carrying out the necessary preparations to go to Syria and join an IAF.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that law enforcers revealed in the schools of the Krasnodar Territory some cases of dissemination of the ideology of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS, earlier, ISIL, recognized a terrorist organization by Russia and a number of other countries). This was reported by Leonid Korzhinek, Prosecutor of the Krasnodar Territory, at the meeting with religious figures held on November 18.
