Bachi-Yurt villages report detentions in the village

According to locals, power agents make mass detentions in Bachi-Yurt, Chechnya, of suspects of burning down a portrait of Ramzan Kadyrov's family member. So far, there is no confirmation of this information from law enforcement bodies or local administration.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, with reference to local residents, that this morning Bachi-Yurt was surrounded and blocked by power agents in connection with the fact that somebody had burnt down a portrait of one of family members of Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of the republic. The village is located near the Tsentaroi, or Khoshi-Yurt – Kadyrov's ancestral village.

"Local men and young guys are detained en masse in the village and taken to the bases in Bachi-Yurt and Alleroy (a village in the Kurchaloy District of Chechnya, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), where they check their identity, the contents of their cell phone, etc.," said one of the villagers.

Locals cannot say how many people have been detained; "after the check, the detainees, if they are 'clean', are let home," said one of the locals.
