Truckers from Kizlyar and Khasavyurt join protest actions
In Dagestan, the strike of the truck drivers, demanding to cancel the collection of tolls from trucks for the use of federal highways, has covered four locations already. The protesters in the villages of Manas and Kayakent have been joined by truck drivers from Kizlyar and Khasavyurt.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 15, in Dagestan, truck drivers started a week-long strike in the Karabudakhkent and Kayakent Districts. The protest action takes place under the supervision of the law enforcement bodies, and truck drivers report on detentions of some strikers.
At present, the strike involves more than 500 truck drivers. This was reported by Kamal, a participant of the protest action.
According to another truck driver, on each day of November 19 and 20, 10-15 protestors were brought to the protest station. The source has also noted that the protestors' actions are coordinated by the truckers' union.
On November 20, the Russian Ministry of Transport imposed a moratorium on the application of penalties stipulated for failure to pay tolls under the system "Platon". The sanctions will not be applied until the end of 2015, when the draft law is expected to be adopted to significantly reduce the tolls. However, the interregional trade union of professional drivers, which supports the strike of truck drivers, continues to insist on the complete shutdown of the system "Platon", the "Kommersant" reports.
