On November 9-15, three persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of November 9-15, 2015, three persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of them, one person was killed, and two others were wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The killed person was a suspected member of the armed underground in Kabardino-Balkaria.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On November 10, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime was introduced within the territory of Nalchik bounded by Kalmykov, Makhov, Budaev, Dobrovolsky, Dagestanskaya, Idarov, and Shogenov Streets and Youth and Korchagin Lanes. Law enforcers reported that militants were blocked in one of the apartments in a multi-storey building in the "Dubki" (Oaks) residential district. When law enforcers started the evacuation of residents of the house, militants opened fire. Later, it became known that at the apartment, Robert Zankishiev, the leader of the local IS unit, was blocked together with his wife. The woman got wounded, and she was accompanied away from the place of the special operation. Robert Zankishiev refused to surrender, and he was killed during the assault of the apartment. In the course of the special operation, an OMON (riot police) fighter was slightly wounded. At 4:15 p.m. Moscow time, the CTO legal regime in Nalchik was cancelled.

Detentions

On November 9, in Ingushetia, FSB agents detained Ziyaudin Kostoev, a resident of the village of Ekazhevo. During the search of his house, more than 170 rounds of ammunition were discovered. The search was conducted by staff members of the Chief Department for North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) together with staff members of the Ingush FSB and the MIA's Chief Department for Ingushetia in the course of the operational examination of the materials on the basis of the decision pronounced by the Supreme Court (SC) of Ingushetia. In the course of the search, they seized more than 170 different rounds and a fore grip for a Kalashnikov submachine gun. Ziyaudin Kostoev is under recognizance not to leave.

On November 13, in Buynaksk, Dagestan policemen detained about 40 believers of a Salafi mosque. The policemen broke into the mosque, forced all the believers out of the building, and then brought them to the police station. The policemen detained all people, "who approached the mosque, and even those who just passed by the mosque." In total, about 40 people were brought to the police station. The detainees were questioned and fingerprinted. Then, they were forced to give blood samples, and later, all of them were released.

Disappearance

At night of October 28, in the city of Argun in Chechnya, armed men in masks and special force uniforms broke into the house of the Musliev family. The attackers refused to present any IDs and forced all family members to lie on the floor. Then, they took 34-year-old Ismail and 25-year-old Iskhaq away with them. On November 2, the Chechen State Radio and TV Company (ChSRTC) "Grozny" showed a story, in which Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov talked to several young men, including Iskhaq Musliev. At the end of the story, Ramzan Kadyrov said that he forgave all the young men and that all of them would go home. And all the men from the TV story, except Iskhaq, returned home. The fate of his brother Ismail is still also unknown.
