Savchenko's defence awaiting sentencing until the end of the year

The Donetsk City Court of the Rostov Region may announce the verdict to Nadezhda Savchenko in December, her advocates hope.

Today, the Donetsk City Court rejected the claimed disqualification of the panel of judges dealing with the Savchenko's case; it happened after the court agreed to hold a closed session to interrogate Igor Plotnitsky, the head of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic.

The case of Savchenko is being heard by the Donetsk City Court of the Rostov Region since September 22. The latest session took place on November 16, where employees of the NTV and VGTRK, who figure in the case as the suffered party, were questioned.

It is planned to continue the Savchenko's trial on November 19. His advocate Ilya Novikov believes that the litigation may be completed by the end of the year.

"As far as I remember, the prosecution has no more witnesses. In the most, a number of professional experts, who conducted examinations on the case, will be questioned," said Novikov.
