Air group from Mozdok strikes targets in Syria
A squadron of Tu-22M3 long-range strategic bombers, taking off from Mozdok, strikes targets in the eastern part of Syria. This was reported by Anatoly Zhikharev, Commander of Russian Long-Range Military Aviation.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from September 30, the Russian aviation strikes targets in Syria. According to the Russian authorities, the Russian aircrafts strike the positions of the "Islamic State" (IS, earlier, ISIL), recognized in Russia and a number of other countries as a terrorist organization.
After listening to the report delivered by the FSB Director, the Russian President has stated that the air strikes of the Military Space Forces of Russia "against the terrorists in Syria should be not only continued but also intensified."
Today, the Russian warships in the Mediterranean Sea have launched cruise missiles against the city of Raqqah in Syria, the French newspaper "Le Monde" reports.
According to the US administration, Russia "has launched a massive strike with sea and air cruise missiles against targets in Syria," the Reuters reports.
Today, in his turn, Anatoly Zhikharev, Commander of Russian Long-Range Military Aviation, has reported that "Russia uses Tu-22M3 long -range strategic bombers to bomb the IS objects."
According to Sergey Shoygu, Russian Minister of Defence, the Russian aviation "has doubled the number of air strikes against the objects of the 'Islamic State' (IS) in Syria," and that fact "has allowed covering all terrorist objects in the territory of Syria."
