Residents of Buynaksk report on mass detention of mosque-goers
In the Dagestani city of Buynaksk, policemen detained about 40 parishioners of a Salafi mosque, eyewitnesses report. Late at night, all the detainees were released.
"At 11:30 a.m. on November 13, the mosque and the surrounding area in Makhachkala Highway in the city of Buynaksk were cordoned off. Policemen broke into the mosque, took all the parishioners out, and then brought them to the police station," one of mosque-goers told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to his story, they also detained everybody "who came up to the mosque, and even those who passed by," in total, about 40 people were delivered to the police station.
Another parishioner of the Buynaksk mosque, named Akhmed M., said that as of 10:00 p.m., all the detainees were released.
"They were released only after being interrogated, fingerprinted, after they gave their blood assays, etc. They were told that they had been registered," the source told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to his story, such police operations take place "almost every week."
