Astrakhan female student accused of financing IS to stay under arrest till December 15
The Lefortovo Court of Moscow has extended the detention in custody for Saida Khalikova, a student of the AstrakhanMedicalAcademy, accused of financial support provided to the "Islamic State" (IS).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 12, the Dagestani regional public organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy) was addressed by Raziyat Isabekova, a resident of the village of Novokayakent of the Kayakent District of Dagestan. The woman asked for help in searching for her daughter Saida Khalikova, who was detained in December 2014 on suspicion of financing militants. On June 5, an advocate of the student announced that Saida Khalikova believed she was transferring money for charity purposes. Nevertheless, she was accused of sponsoring the "Islamic State" (IS).
At the meeting of the Lefortovo Court of Moscow held on November 6, Sabir Agaev, an advocate of Saida Khalikova, claimed the need to cancel the arrest of his client because of her poor health. However, the Court has extended the arrest of the student until December 15, the "Kommersant" reports.
According to the "Kommersant", at the court hearing, an official from the Russian FSB reported on the completion of the investigation into the criminal case against female natives of Dagestan, accused of sponsoring the IS. Investigators suggest that the group was organized by Darya Itsankova, a former student of the AstrakhanMedicalAcademy, who left for the Middle East together with her husband.
