Resident of Chechnya is accused of illegal possession of explosive substances

A resident of the Vedeno District of Chechnya is accused of illegal purchase and possession of explosive substances. According to investigators, they discovered in his house an artillery shell, two hand grenades, and two shots for a grenade launcher.

The criminal case has been instituted against Salambek Zakaev, a resident of the village of Tevzni, under Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which criminalizes illegal purchase and possession of explosive substances and explosive devices. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by an official of the Investigating Department for Chechnya of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

According to the investigators, on October 15, Salambek Zakaev was detained, and he was initially under recognizance not to leave. On October 27, the court pronounced the decision to take Salambek Zakaev into custody. The maximum penalty stipulated by the above article is up to five years of imprisonment.
