Nemtsov's Party asks to be injured party in his murder case

An application for recognizing the "Parnas" Party an injured party in the murder case of the opposition leader Boris Nemtsov was submitted today to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on February 27 in Moscow. In connection with the crime, five natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia were detained, namely: Zaur Dadaev, Anzor Gubashev, Khamzat Bakhaev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Shagid Gubashev.

The "Parnas" asks to become an injured party in order to be able to participate in the course of inquiry, Vadim Prokhorov, an advocate, said today after filing the petition. The party members believe that the inquiry has "slipped", and additional forces are needed to capture the customers and organizers of the murder, the TASS quotes Prokhorov as saying.

According to Vadim Prokhorov, the Criminal Code provides for the possibility to recognize a legal entity an injured party, although there is no such practice. The party motivates its request by the fact that Boris Nemtsov was a deputy from the "Parnas" in legislative bodies of state power, as well as the major donator to the party; therefore the "Parnas" suffered property damage after his murder, the RAPSI reports.
