Evkurov: 17 residents of Ingushetia perished in conflict in Syria
The Ingush authorities know about at least 30 resident of the republic who went to war in Syria, said the head of the republic Yunus-Bek Evkurov. According to his story, 17 of them were killed, and six others returned home and declared themselves to law enforcement bodies.
In Ingushetia, recruitment of supporters of the "Islamic State" (IS) is organized only through social networks, while there are no pronounced ideologists of this organization in the republic, Yunus-Bek Evkurov said on October 28, adding that least 30 residents of the republic had left for Syria.
"Of these, 17 have already been killed; this is reliable information. We have returned to peaceful life those who came with repentance. There are six of them; two are under investigation; they will be tried," said Evkurov.
He stressed that an active prevention work is carried out with the returnees from Syria.
"The work we are conducting with all those who gets into their hands allows us to convince – not to frighten and not to force, but to convince them that it is absolutely not a religious, for sure, topic, so leave it; and we'll help toy," said Yunus-Bek Evkurov in his interview to the "Komsomolskaya Pravda" Radio.
