Witness names Savchenko ideology leader of "Aydar" battalion

Being one of the leaders of the "Aydar" battalion, Nadezhda Savchenko was notable for special cruelty, Evgeny Kolomiets, an adviser to the head of the self-proclaimed People's Republic of Lugansk (PRL) and a witness for the prosecution, said at the Donetsk City Court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Nadezhda Savchenko is accused of involvement in the murder of two VGTRK (All-Russian TV and Radio Company) near Lugansk on June 17, 2014, and of illegally crossing the Russian border. From September 22, her case is being considered by the Donetsk City Court of the Rostov Region of Russia.

Nadezhda refuses to plead guilty. The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has put her name on the list of persons recognized as political prisoners.

The court also questioned Sergey Grachov, another prosecution witness. According to his story, he "was transporting Savchenko after capture." He added that he was the military commandant of Lugansk.

Today, the court denied the defence's motion that asked the witness to show, on the map of the Lugansk Region, the place were he put Savchenko down from his car.
