In South Ossetia, leaders of two NGOs decide to dissolve their organizations
The "Association for Social, Economic and Cultural Development of South Ossetia" (ASECD) and the Women's Association "For Democracy and Human Rights" are preparing packages of documents on self-liquidation to be submitted to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). Thereby, the leaders of the organizations protest against the situation around the non-governmental sector of the republic.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by political analyst Dina Alborova, the leader of the ASECD, the authorities have started to pay increased attention to the NGOs, and this fact negatively affects their activities.
Besides, according to Dina Alborova, recently, the leaders of the NGOs are subjected to the additional pressure, and there is an organized campaign against the NGOs on the Internet.
The leader of the ASECD has also reported that "the last straw" was the incident that occurred in September: then, the regional meeting "South Caucasus: new security architecture", which was to be held in Yerevan and which was to be attended by five delegates from South Ossetia, was disrupted. According to Dina Alborova, on the eve of the departure to the capital of Armenia, the delegates refused to go to the meeting. The leader of the ASECD believes that they were subjected to pressure by the authorities.
