In October, Chechnya already registers the highest number of victims to armed conflict for six months
The total number of people killed and wounded in a special operation in Grozny has exceeded the appropriate figure for any month for the past six months. Six persons suffered in a special operation in the Chechen capital, while during two previous quarters of 2015, according to calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot", the number of victims does not exceed five persons.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 8, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime was introduced in the Staropromyslovsky District of Grozny. During the special operation, according to the official information, three members of the armed underground were killed, and three law enforcers were wounded. The killed men were identified as Zelimkhan Bashanaev, Magomed Mazaev, and Shamil Chergizov. On October 13, it was reported on the detention of a suspected accomplice of the killed men.
In the third quarter of 2015, four Chechen law enforcers were wounded, and one was killed. No civilians or suspected members of the armed underground were killed or wounded.
In September, no information about victims to the conflict in Chechnya was reported.
In August, five persons suffered in the conflict, including the losses of the Chechen police in a firefight in Dagestan. On August 9, three soldiers were blown up on a mine in the mountains of the Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya, one of them died. On August 21, two other Chechen policemen were wounded during an operation in Khasavyurt in Dagestan.
In July, no victims to the armed conflict in Chechnya were reported.
Let us remind you that for the third quarter of 2014, the number of victims was much less than for the same period of 2015: one suspected militant was killed, and no wounded were reported.
In the second quarter of 2015, the number of victims to the armed conflict in Chechnya reached five persons. Of them, two suspected militants were killed, and two law enforcers and one civilian were wounded. It should be noted that in the second quarter of 2014, five law enforcers were killed, and nine others were wounded. Besides, four persons suspected of aiding and abetting militants were killed.
Thus, the number of victims to a single special operation has exceeded the appropriate figures for the previous six months.
It should be noted that in October 2014, the conflict in Chechnya had deteriorated. The beginning of the month was marked by a major terror act in Grozny, which hosted the celebration of the Day of City. As a result of the terror act, according to the official information, five law enforcers were killed, 13 law enforcers were wounded, and a suicide bomber was also killed. Later, until the end of month, two suspected militants were killed, and one was wounded.
