MCC upholds extension of Zaur Dadaev's arrest
Today, the Moscow City Court (MCC) has dismissed the appeal to invalidate the decision of the Basmanny Court of Moscow on the extension of the Zaur Dadaev's arrest until November 28.
Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on February 27 in Moscow. In connection with the crime, five natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia were detained, namely: Zaur Dadaev, Anzor Gubashev, Khamzat Bakhaev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Shagid Gubashev.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 25, the Basmanny Court of Moscow pronounced a decision to extend the Zaur Dadaev's arrest until November 28. On August 28, Shamsudin Tsakaev, an advocate of Zaur Dadaev, called the Court's decision illegal and unfounded and reported on filing the appeal against it.
At the session of the Moscow City Court, advocate Shamsudin Tsakaev, who represents the interests of Zaur Dadaev, has stated that "all the prosecutors' arguments are ungrounded and are not supported by the case materials."
"The Court has completely ignored the defence's position and reflected in its decision the investigator's position only," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Shamsudin Tsakaev as stating.
"There are no documents confirming my guilt, except the false confession obtained by torture and threats of violence. All the investigator's arguments are far-fetched. I have no right and do not intend to flee away, destroy proofs, or threaten anyone," Zaur Dadaev has stated.
However, after listening to the arguments of the defence and the public prosecutor, the Court has recognized the Zaur Dadaev's arrest as lawful, the "RAPSI" (Russian Agency of Legal and Judicial Information) reports.
