Believers of Makhachkala mosque report on mass registration at police station

After the believers of the mosque, located in the area of the Makhachkala garden and dacha community "Palmyra", had been brought to the police station, all of them were registered at the police. According to mosque-goers, they are dissatisfied with the close attention and pressure from law enforcers, and a lot of Muslims are going to leave Dagestan because of the law enforcers' actions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that during the operation held on September 2, the law enforcers used two buses to bring to the police station the believers, who performed Friday prayer at the mosque of the garden and dacha community "Palmyra".

In total, about 60 people were brought to the police station. All the believers were registered at the police and then released, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Shamil, one of the detainees.

Ismail, a believer from the mosque in Palmyra Street, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the law enforcers used force against one of the detainees.

According to elderly believer Umar, the systematic pressure on believers enhances the growth of distrust in the government and encourages radicalism.

"Here, more and more people intend to leave the republic, no matter where. People are not allowed to live here in peace," Umar has said. And he continued: "People come to pray in the mosque, and then they find themselves at the police station. And what should the general registration at the police station mean? Why should they forcibly register a man only for wearing a beard?"
