Residents of Grozny report on passport checks
This morning, according to local residents, law enforcers have conducted passport checks in Grozny. Policemen are engaged in ensuring preventive measures in connection with the upcoming holidays in Chechnya. This was reported by an official from the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
The passport checks were reported by residents of the Staropromyslovsky District of Grozny.
"Today, at about 10 a.m., we were subjected to a passport check. A district police inspector visited us together with other policemen. They asked our address and last names. Then, they compared our answers with their records in their book and left us," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Raisa, a resident of Grozny.
An official from the Chechen law enforcement agencies has explained that the policemen are conducting the preventive measures. "On October 5, our republic will celebrate several significant dates, including the 195th anniversary of Grozny. In this regard, Grozny and other cities will host a variety of cultural events. For the holiday period, the Chechen law enforcement agencies will enhance security measures," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by the official of the Chechen MIA.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the local residents also reported on passport checks in Grozny on the eve of the Victory Day celebrations.
