In Akhtubinsk, women stop their hunger strike; two deputies replace them and join protest action

In the Astrakhan Region, women, who take part in the hunger strike of the employees of the "Akhtuba ATP", have suspended their participation in the protest action because of sharp deterioration of their health. Three employees of the "Akhtuba ATP" continue the hunger strike, and they are joined by two deputies, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 19, seven employees of the "Akhtuba ATP" declared a hunger strike with the demand to repay the debts on wages and other benefits.

As of September 30, the debts to the employees were not repaid in full volume. The hunger-strikers start suffering from deterioration of health. At the meeting of the activists and the hunger-strikers, it was decided that the women had to suspend their participation in the hunger strike. Sergey Balashov, Vladimir Luschikov, and Sergey Astapov continue to take part in the protest action.

The hunger-strikers were joined by Alexander Kamanin, a deputy of the Duma of the Astrakhan Region, and Alexei Kutsaev, a deputy of the City Assembly of Akhtubinsk.

"For a year, they were used as slaves at the municipal enterprise. They were not paid for their work, and the people declared a hunger strike, thus deliberately endangering their health. However, the authorities do not care about that," Alexander Kamanin told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
