Nadezhda Savchenko denies her involvement in adjustment of artillery fire

According to Ukrainian aviator Nadezhda Savchenko, the instructions, which she gave during the shelling of the positions of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic (known as LNR), cannot be treated as an adjustment of fire. Nadezhda Savchenko states that she only asked the artillerists not to shell the roads.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Nadezhda Savchenko is accused of involvement in the killing of two employees of the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (known as VGTRK) near Lugansk and illegal border crossing. The case against Nadezhda Savchenko is being considered at the Donetsk City Court in the Rostov Region. The defence insists on her innocence.

During the today's court hearing, Nadezhda Savchenko has confirmed that during the combat actions in Donbass, she gave instructions to the artillerists concerning the places to be shelled. However, Nadezhda Savchenko refuses to treat that fact as an adjustment of fire, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

"I was far from involvement in the adjustment of that very fire and that very shelling. When I was on the road, a missile exploded 200-300 meters from me. I phoned them and asked them not to shell the roads, since they will be useful to us," the "TASS" quotes the defendant as saying.

Let us remind you that the case against Nadezhda Savchenko caused a great resonance in Russia. The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has included the name of Nadezhda Savchenko in the list of persons recognized as political prisoners.
