The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 25, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (known as MGIMO) hosted the final conference on the study "Ethnicity and politics in Northern Caucasus". According to the results of the study, the ethnic self-determination of natives of Northern Caucasus is being formed not only under the influence of the religious factor, but it is also a subject to constant changes.

After the discussions on the methodological basis and the results of the study, the conference participants talked about the possibility to publish a book about the research conducted. This was reported by Nikolai Silaev, Project Manager and Senior Researcher from the Centre for Caucasus and Regional Security.

According to Nikolai Silaev, the materials presented at the conference have confirmed the hypothesis of the project participants on the diversity of sources for the formulation of ethnicity in Northern Caucasus.
