In Akhtubinsk, hunger-strikers hold pickets
In Akhtubinsk, employees of the municipal enterprise "Akhtuba ATP" (auto transport company) held a series of pickets. In their hands, they were holding posters reading: "We want to eat", "Mayor, pay our wages", "We won't let bankrupt our ATP", and "Down with thieves of Mayor's office".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the workers of the "Akhtuba ATP" did not receive their wages for nearly a year. Their appeals to various authorities did not succeed, and on September 19, they declared a hunger strike.
Today, the picketers were standing on the way of citizens, who were going to take part in the events to celebrate the Day of Akhtubinsk and the 95th anniversary of the State Flight Test Centre of the Russian Ministry of Defence named after Chkalov. This was reported by Alexander Kamanin, the deputy of the Duma of the Astrakhan Region.
Let us remind you that on September 23, the first payments to settle the wage arrears were started. According to the hunger-strikers, on September 24, they were visited by Akhtubinsk Mayor Amanga Naruzbaev. He has informed the protestors that the additional amount of 1.5 million roubles will be paid within the day. However, on that day, the employees of the "Akhtuba ATP" received no money. According to the city administration, the funds to settle the wage arrears up to and including June have been transferred to bailiffs and will be credited to the account of the "Akhtuba ATP" within the next several days.
